VFW Post 1170 Honorguard
The Middletown VFW Post 1170 Honor Guard consists of a dedicated team of fellow veterans, who volunteer their time to perform memorial ritual services free of charge.
The Middletown Post 1170 Honor Guard performs burial site and funeral home services for departed veterans. Additionally, they represent the post at various Veteran Day and Memorial Day events throughout the community. The Honor Guard was recognized by Jefferson County Commissioner Russ Maple in 2003 with a "Community Excellence Award", for their efforts.
Those wishing to arrange for the honor guard services, or Post members who are interested in joining their ranks are encouraged to contact the Honor Guard Commander Wayne Hall or Post Commander for additional information.
"Alone and far removed from earthly care The noble ruins of men lie buried here. You are strong men, good men Endowed with youth and much the will to live. I hear no protest from the mute lips of the dead.
They rest: there is no more to give. So long my comrades, Sleep ye where you fell upon the field. But tread softly please March O'er my heart with ease March on and on But to God alone we kneel." Audie L. Murphy, 1948
